How to Use This Planner

1

Add your appliances

Tap a preset button to quickly add common appliances, or fill in the custom form for anything else. You can add as many as you need. Each entry stores a name, last-changed date, interval, and optional notes.

2

Check the status badges

Each appliance shows a colored badge. Red means overdue. Yellow means due within a week. Green means you are on track. The next due date is calculated from your last-changed date plus the interval you set.

3

Mark as changed

When you replace or clean a filter, tap the "Mark Changed" button on that row. The date resets to today and the status updates. This keeps your schedule current without re-adding entries.

Typical Filter Intervals

These are general guidelines. Always check your appliance manual for the manufacturer's recommendation. Homes with pets, smokers, or high dust may need more frequent changes.

Appliance Filter Type Typical Interval Notes
HVAC Furnace Pleated / Fiberglass 30 to 90 days Thicker filters last longer. Check monthly.
Air Purifier HEPA / Carbon 6 to 12 months Pre-filter may need monthly cleaning.
Refrigerator Water / Ice 6 months Some models have indicator lights.
Range Hood Metal mesh / Charcoal 1 to 3 months Metal mesh can be washed in a dishwasher.
Dishwasher Drain filter Monthly Remove and rinse under hot water.
Washing Machine Drain pump filter Quarterly Check for coins and debris.
Dryer Lint screen / Vent hose Every load / Yearly Lint screen after each use. Hose once a year.
Humidifier Wick / Evaporative 1 to 2 months Replace at start of each season.
Vacuum HEPA / Foam 3 to 6 months Washable filters extend life.

Troubleshooting and Tips

My HVAC system seems louder than usual

A clogged filter forces the blower to work harder. Check the filter even if it is not yet at the replacement date. If you have pets or live near construction, the filter may need changing sooner than the standard 90 days.

Water from the fridge tastes odd

Refrigerator water filters absorb chlorine and particulates. After six months, they lose effectiveness. If you notice taste or odor changes, replace the filter even if the indicator light has not triggered yet.

The dishwasher leaves residue on dishes

Food particles collect in the drain filter at the bottom of the dishwasher. Remove it, rinse it under hot water, and scrub with an old toothbrush. Doing this monthly prevents buildup and bad smells.

Clothes take multiple cycles to dry

Besides cleaning the lint screen after every load, check the vent hose behind the dryer. A clogged hose is a fire hazard and reduces efficiency. Disconnect it once a year and clear out lint buildup.

Air purifier seems less effective

Most air purifiers have a pre-filter that catches large dust. If the pre-filter is dirty, the HEPA filter works harder and wears out faster. Clean the pre-filter monthly and replace the main filter on schedule.

I cannot find the filter on my appliance

Check the owner's manual or search online with your model number. Some filters are behind panels or under the appliance. If you just moved in, assume all filters need replacing and start fresh with today's date.
